[2009 June] In Memory of Marina McQuaig  Marina passed away at the age of eight on November 26, 2008. Marina suffered from a severe seizure disorder precipitated by vaccination and re-vaccination.... "I was given a flu shot with thimerosal [a mercury-containing preservative] when I was eleven weeks pregnant with Marina.....I avoided using asthma medication because I didn't want to harm my developing baby, but then I had to use it because the flu shot gave me oculo-respiratory syndrome and I couldn't breathe.....Marina was born with cutis applaisia [improper skin development] on her hands and feet, which to me is an obvious result of the vaccine because the last layer of skin forms at around the eleventh week of pregnancy.
    At two months she was diagnosed with epilepsy but she usually would never have more than one or two seizures a day. Because health authorities do not withhold vaccination for something they consider such a minor health problem [ie an evolving neurological condition], Marina was injected with all the usual infant vaccines on schedule at 2, 4, 6 and 12 months. Looking back, she did have reactions to most of the vaccines but we never linked it the way we should have.
     At 18 months, Marina was due for the seven vaccines given then: diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, Haemophilus Infiuenzae B, chickenpox and meningococcus. She had been free of seizures for a year except for one possible seizure we didn't see but suspected two weeks be­fore the 18 month vaccines.
      We told our paediatrician and the health nurse about this but the nurse told me they changed the vaccine and it no longer affected seizures. At the time of the vaccines Marina had a cold. I kept asking the nurse if it was all right to go ahead. She said yes - just give Marina Tylenol for the next twenty four hours."
      The result was: a two week stay at Children's Hospital with one week in the ICU; unremitting seizures followed by seizures almost daily, up to more than fifteen per day; Marina came close to death 60 hrs after the seven doses. Unbelievably, public health carried on as if nothing had happened."

Our health officials continue to pump out junk science, for example the recent, seriously flawed NIAID study on H1N1 vaccine safety in pregnant women reported over the major media, to deceive Americans and enroll them in their national vaccination campaigns. The protocol in that study listed any pregnant woman who had a history of alcohol or drug abuse during a 6 year period, diabetes, compromised immune systems, asthmatic and allergic conditions, history of cancer-treatment drugs for 3 years, prescription to psychiatric drugs, and many other conditions as unqualified for the study. These conditions alone would disqualify the large majority of the nation’s pregnant women. Furthermore, any pregnant woman who enrolled in the trial, who spiked a temperature of 100 degrees or greater during the first 72 hours following vaccination, were excluded from the trial. Nevertheless, the CDC and its cronies in the media, particularly the pharmaceutical shills at The New York Times, touted this deranged trial as conclusive evidence that the swine flu vaccine was safe for all pregnant women. These are the kinds of medical distortions we have come to expect from the Federal health agencies. Never give to pregnant women, or women of child-bearing age not fully aware of the need to avoid pregnancy for one month after vaccination, since theoretically the vaccine virus could have an effect on the foetus. (Eolarix, 1994)

Cdr. Megan Ryan has found that women vaccinated for anthrax during the first trimester have a higher rate of birth defects in offspring than unvaccinated women.  Apparently this research was compelling enough, despite an army study to the contrary, for the FDA in 2002 to change the pregnancy warning on the vaccine label from a C (no data on risk) to a D (data suggests increased risk during pregnancy). However, the data have not yet been published.  Dr. Maria Araneta, also associated with the Naval Health Research Center and University of California, has shown that GW veterans are also likelier than controls to have children with certain birth defects.  My understanding of the safety of anthrax vaccine and its role in GWS ---Meryl Nass MD

With respect to the myth’s claim, “by 2002 no new childhood vaccines with Thimerosal were being sold in the U.S.,” this is also false because, among other Thimerosal-containing vaccines that could be given to children in 2002, the Thimerosal-preserved influenza vaccine, which, by its nature, is a new vaccine every year, was effectively knowingly added to the recommended vaccination schedule for pregnant women as well as to the recommended childhood vaccination schedule in April of 2002²⁸ at a time when all doses of the influenza vaccine approved for “healthy children aged 6–23 months” were Thimerosal preserved.
    Sixth, compounding the harm, in April of 2002, the CDC’s recommendation that the Thimerosal-preserved influenza vaccine be given to pregnant women who would be in their second and third trimesters of their pregnancies during the influenza season, thereby knowingly recommending the Thimerosal and mercury poisoning the developing child in utero when the risk of harm is even greater than it is postpartum and the results published in 1977²⁹ clearly found that Thimerosal-preserved influ vaccines that were given to pregnant women significantly increased (with a hospital-standardized relative risk of 2.0 or higher) their children’s risk of serious birth defects (cleft palate [RR = 7.1], microcephaly [RR = 2.3], and pyloric stenosis [RR = 2.0]). Do not give M-M-R II to pregnant females; the possible effects of the vaccine on foetal development are unknown at this time. If vaccination of postpubertal females is undertaken, pregnancy should be avoided for three months following vaccination.  Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with M-M-R II. It is also not known whether M-M-R II can cause foetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity.
