          Medical Research Council    

The Medical Research Council (MRC) is an national organisation funded by the UK tax-payer. its business is medical research aimed at improving human health; everyone stands to benefit from the outputs.

The research it supports and the scientists it trains meet the needs of the health services, the pharmaceutical and other health-related indusstries and the academic world. MRC has funded work which has led to some of the most significant discoveries and achievements in medicine in the UK.

          The Royal Society    

The Royal Society is the UK's national academy of science. It was founded in 1660 and is the oldest national science academy in the world. It has a Fellowship of the best scientists and engineers from the UK and Commonwealth. The Society serves the scientific community by funding more than 400 post-doctoral fellowships and professorships, conference and equipment grants and international exchanges as well as scientific discussion meetings and lectures.
