In 1987, when these drugs were first approved, there were thirteen million Americans with high cholesterol. Now, in 2009, we have over a hundred million Americans with high cholesterol. What happened? The drug companies utilized their influence to lower the level that was considered normal to increase the web that they could cast and haul in more patients.
