[Media Nov 2002] Mammograms may increase the risk of breast cancer in women
[Feb 2002] Mammography Is Dangerous Besides Ineffective, Warns Samuel S Epstein, M.D.
"Breast cancer mortality has remained unchanged for decades despite huge screening programmes."--Fiona Bawdon. WDDTY Report on Breast Cancer--The Mammogram myth. Vol 3, No. 10
"More than 90% of breast cancer tumours are found by the women themselves."--Dr Joan Austoker.
Medical radiation side effects
"I am particularly concerned that the cancer "establishment," and even our own President label mammograms and other screening techniques as "preventive medicine." These techniques are early detection methods and are no more effective at preventing cancer than watering your lawn is at preventing automobile accidents. It's understandable that the President could confuse detection with prevention but not the cancer establishment. I believe they deliberately misuse the language to cover their backsides for not paying attention to preventive techniques."Dr Whitaker, M.D.Research by Dr. John Gofman M.D.,Ph.D. shows that past exposure to ionizing radiation primarily medical x-rays is responsible for about 75 percent of the breast-cancer problem in the United States. http://www.ratical.com/radiation/CNR/PBC/indexT.html
Dr Irwin Bross, Director of Biostatistics, Roswell Park Memorial Institute, had his funding stopped by the NCI when he released his figures linking X-ray with cancer & leukemia. Bross said that the mammography stunt would cause 4 or 5 cancers for every one detected, leading to "the worst epidemic of iatrogenic breast cancer in history. "In my view the NCI would be better off putting the money allocated for future screening into a trust fund for the victims of the programme who will develop cancer in 10 to 15 years time." Bross is the author of 400 scientific articles.
