The Eden Prescription Sage May Fight Multiple Cancers and Has Proven
Health Benefits: Researchers have shown in this new study that extracts of
the common herb sage powerfully suppressed multiple cancers at the lab scale,
including cervical, liver, colon and lung cancers as well as melanoma.
Population studies from Italy have already confirmed that eating sage is linked
to reduced cancer risk in people: those eating the herb at least once weekly had
32% less melanoma, while those eating sage “regularly” (exact dose not given)
had 57% less lung cancer. What makes this herb so powerful? It’s rich in thujone,
cineole, carnosol, caffeic acid and chlorogenic acid—all powerful antioxidants
and known cancer-fighters in their own rights. And fighting cancer is just one
of their benefits. Clinical trials on humans have already shown that sage
significantly improves memory in older adults (dose: 333 mg of extract daily),
enhances cognitive performance in patients with Alzheimer’s (dose: 60 drops
daily of liquid extract), and lowers fasting blood sugar, LDL cholesterol and
triglycerides in type II diabetics (dose: 500 mg extract daily). Sage can be
consumed as supplements, prepared as a tea, or used generously as a herb in a
variety of dishes.
