The Prison Industrial Complex
[Prison population is kept high by illegality of Cannabis, easy access to alcohol, Human Abuse & Child abuse, all part of the Psychopathic Control grid. TIR, Meditation and Psychedelic use would cut recidivism dramatically (Tim Leary cut the recidivism rate from 70% to 10% using Psilocybin1). The 'war on drugs' is essentially a war on the underclass with robbery of the taxpayer. Bill Clinton's 'three strikes' rule incarcerated 2.5 million people. This from the man who, in the 80's, turned.Arkansas into a narco-republic! 1]
CIA whistleblower John Kiriakou speaks out I was surprised by the terrible quality of the medical care, of the food. American prisoners aren’t even fed human-grade food. I remember passing boxes, cases of food in the cafeteria marked “not for human consumption, feed use only” or “for sale only in China.” And the medical care was even worse. There were almost a half a dozen deaths of prisoners when I was there in prison, and almost every one of those deaths was preventable.

[2012 May] The Rap Music Conspiracy He told us that since our employers had become silent investors in this prison business, it was now in their interest to make sure that these prisons remained filled. Our job would be to help make this happen by marketing music which promotes criminal behavior, rap being the music of choice.....As the months passed, rap music had definitely changed direction. I was never a fan of it but even I could tell the difference. Rap acts that talked about politics or harmless fun were quickly fading away as gangster rap started dominating the airwaves.....Everyone bought into it, consumers included. Violence and drug use became a central theme in most rap music. I spoke to a few of my peers in the industry to get their opinions on the new trend but was told repeatedly that it was all about supply and demand. Sadly many of them even expressed that the music reinforced their prejudice of minorities....Now that I have a greater understanding of how private prisons operate, things make much more sense than they ever have. I see how the criminalization of rap music played a big part in promoting racial stereotypes and misguided so many impressionable young minds into adopting these glorified criminal behaviors which often lead to incarceration.
[2012 April] Hundreds of economists agree marijuana legalization could save US taxpayers $13.7 billion per year If marijuana were legalized nationwide, however, the drug industry and the prison system, much of which has now been privatized, would suffer greatly. And this, of course, is one of the primary reasons why these special interests are working hard to squelch all efforts to legalize marijuana at the national level.

[Video] Doing Time, Doing Vipassana In 1994, though considered a great security risk, Bedi oversaw a Vipassana course of more than 1,000 inmates that involved Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and others. Since that time, she has had the opportunity to examine recidivism rates among released prisoners and is very pleased with the results. Vipassana courses are beginning to be taught in some prisons in the United States.
