Joss Whedon, creator of the groundbreaking cult favorites, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and "Firefly," returns to television and reunites with fellow "Buffy" alumna, Eliza Dushku, for a thrilling new drama, DOLLHOUSE.

ECHO (Dushku) is an "Active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group of individuals who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Hired by the wealthy, powerful and connected, the Actives don't just perform their hired roles, they wholly become -- with mind, personality and physiology -- whomever the client wants or needs them to be. Whether imprinted to be a lover, an assassin, a corporate negotiator or a best friend, the Actives know no other life than the specific engagements they are in at that time.

DOLLHOUSE Summary from wikipedia:

Eliza Dushku plays a young woman called Echo, a member of a group of people known as "Actives" or "Dolls". The Dolls are people whose personalities and existence in the outside world have been wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Contents of an imprint may include semantic memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, as appropriate for different assignments (referred to as engagements). The new persona can be an amalgam of several real people, and the end result necessarily incorporates both strengths and flaws from the template personalities. The Actives are then hired out for particular jobs, which can be anything from crimes to fantasies to the occasional good deed. On engagements, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between engagements they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". The Dollhouse is located somewhere in Los Angeles and is a subsidiary of a mysterious research group known as the Rossum Corporation.

The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.[6][7]

The show also focuses on the employees of the mysterious "Dollhouse," including the manager of the Dollhouse, Adelle DeWitt (Olivia Williams), Echo's Handler Boyd Langton (Harry Lennix), and the in-house computer scientist Topher Brink (Fran Kranz), as well as two other "Dolls" named Sierra and Victor (played by Dichen Lachman and Enver Gjokaj), who are friendly with and often seem to remember Echo. The names of Actives are simply letters in the phonetic alphabet. Although the Actives are ostensibly volunteers who work for a period of five years, the operation is highly illegal and under constant threat on one end from Paul Ballard (Tahmoh Penikett), a determined federal agent who has heard a rumor about the Dolls, and on the other end a rogue Active named "Alpha".[7]

MOON: "If a space mission looks too dangerous to risk the life of an experienced cosmonaut, a robotoid can now be used. The robotoid copy of the cosmonaut is already trained the moment it is made, thanks to its holographic memory."

Has anyone seen the movie "The surrogates"? It's about humaniod robots, guided by the thoughts of their owner, interacting in "real life" instead of them. And it's based on a comic, 2005/2006, here's the wiki-Link to the comic:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Surrogates
It really looks like a preparation for a life with humanoid robots. And, of course, in the end they all get destroyed by super hero Bruce Willis, telling us: Don't worry, pals, we use them as long as they serve us well, and once the difficulties arise, our hero will come and kill them all and we'll live on again.
Yeah...

More from Battlestar Galactica: Kara Thrace (Starbuck) is shot and captured by the cylons and winds up in a "hospital". She doesn't realise her doctor is a cylon at first. He talks about the abuse she suffered as a child. She is drugged constantly, and wakes up one day to find a new scar near her gunshot wound. At some point (either during that episode or later, or both) she learns that she may have had an ovary removed: later on in the series when she's captured again, a cylon brings a child to her and tells her that it was hers, made from one of her eggs. Kara eventually believes him, only for the birth mother to take the child away at a later date and leave Kara very confused. Back to the hospital, when she realises that the doctor is a cylon she stabs him with a broken mirror and attempts to escape. She finds a room full of women, hooked up to computers and drugged to the eyeballs, legs spread in the hospital birth position, producing babies for the cylons. They call these places farms.

Why do I have the horrible feeling that this is real? I know it's been mentioned before several times in this thread and elsewhere on the forums that stuff that's in the papers and the media as " possible new technology" and how the future "might be" is more like what's already been happening for ages, but oh man this is bad. If anyone ever finds one of these celebrity baby farms, please destroy it.

EDIT: Ugh. The Island. OK so, surveillance and DNA databases etc quite possibly has more than just control written all over it. How about turning the entire human population into clone/organ harvest material? They need your DNA to know if you're a match for one of the elite; they need to monitor where you are so they can come get you to be harvested when you're needed. Anyone who is too rebellious/free thinking and of the wrong DNA gets wiped out in the forthcoming mass extermination; the rest of the population gets to act as workers doing the jobs that the machines can't until they are needed for parts. Someone tell me I'm wrong, please!

There is a movie called Repo: The Genetic Opera starring Paris Hilton. It was a cult film released in 2008 to low acclaim.

Anyway its about a "Repo Man" who goes around harvesting people's DNA and organs for sale on the black market by a company called GeneCo!!

GeneCo is run by a wealthy man whose daughter is played by Paris Hilton. She gets constant surgery on her face to maintain a normal appearance, although it falls off at one point!

The plot really makes me wonder about what is going on with plastic surgery in Hollywood. They even mention how the Hilton character's face is always changing, which is something we've discussed here.

Anyway, I saw it last night and would reccommend it to everyone who likes this thread if you can get past the crummy music.

I also found it interesting that the heroine in the movie is named Shiloh which is also the name of Angelina Jolie's daughter... I can't get into it now, but this is significant and I will explain more as the thread continues. Anyway, here's the descripton of the film from IMDb:

"In the year 2056 - the not so distant future - an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price.

Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history.

After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera. Written by Lionsgate
